Voting is a serious exercise and duty that we owe to ourselves and owe to our future. The quality of leadership is determined by the power of our VOTERS’ CARD.
It is the ticket to our destination of a greater Nigeria. The power of this voter’s card goes beyond determining the quality of our lives today; these same cards determine our future. Thus, we hold them in trust for our children and our children’s children.
The quality of THEIR lives are determined by those WE vote into office TODAY. So, can we please stop treating this exercise with such frivolity? Selling our voters’ cards to dubious leaders, exchanging the cards for a 1KG bag of rice, thinking there is no point in even participating have all brought us to the point in which we find ourselves today disenchanted and disenfranchised with the political system that supposedly is for the good of the nation.
Our voters’ card is our power to make the right choice for true leadership. Let’s get on track, let’s take our marks and get set. Register to vote. Get a voters’ card.
Democracy cannot succeed unless those who express their choice are prepared to choose wisely. The real safeguard of democracy, therefore, is education.
